Photo By Storm Crypt There is good reason why this spot on earth made it to the 7 Natural Wonders of the World finalists. The green water at the mouth of the cave is enough to entice you to explore what is hidden under those mountains. The rock formations inside the river never fail to wow every visitor. The underground river has a sense of mystery that attracts every adventurist into its bosom.
Banaue Rice Terraces
The cascading rice paddies were formed by tribal groups long ago. As our modern world give way to technology, the Banaue rice terraces stand as a living testament of the ingenuity of Filipinos. It’s not only the scenic landscape, but also the cool weather, the rich culture, and the interesting people that make a rewarding trek to Banaue.
Coron’s Kayangan Lake
Start out with some island hopping to the beautiful limestone formations at Coron Bay, then trek a hill to descend towards a refreshing view of the Kayangan Lake. Coron is just one of the many pieces of paradise in the Philippines. One will never resist a swim in the giant natural pool that Kayangan offers.
Batanes
Because flights are infrequent to this northernmost province, not many has set foot in this typhoon stricken group of islands. The lush rolling hills and rugged cliffs provide a beautiful vista of the raging waves below. The fishing villages have somehow preserved its traditional architecture. And if you are out to locate a Honesty Café, you might just be lucky to find it in this corner of the earth.
Chocolate Hills
Borne out of corals and mysterious earth formations, Bohol’s Chocolate Hills have always been a wonder to many. During the hot season, the hills turn brown like chocolate kisses. But when the weather is fine, the green mounds are a majestic sight to travelers. Such landscape could not be found anywhere else in the world, so be sure to make this part of your itinerary.
There is still a long list of beautiful must-visit places in the Philippines. Yet, you can go home content should you choose these five destinations.
