I'm an adventurer at heart. Then again aren't most travelers? There are some places I've been lucky enough to go in this world that I wouldn't mind going back to again, and again, and again. Here are my favorite places around the globe.
1. Grand Canyon National Park, U.S.A.
Photo by Sergio Veludo Nothing we've ever seen compares with Grand Canyon National Park. It's spectacularly breathtaking, even in winter. We spent a few days hiking in the Canyon and around the rim, but there's always more to see.
2 Kalahari Transfrontier National Park, South Africa
Out of all of South Africa's national parks, this is our favorite. It's the most remote of all the parks, but the big cat viewing is incredible. We spent our first morning watching juvenile lions at a watering hole, roaring just outside our car window and our second morning watching Cheetah's. Couple that with an evening spent listening to the lions roar as we fell asleep (behind an electric camp fence!) and it made for a magical time.
3- Blue Coast, Turkey

Another natural wonder that's absolutely beautiful. It's the perfect place to relax on a boat. Blue coast cruises leave nearly every day of the week. We spent four days cruising the blue coast, from beautiful, sparkling blue lagoon to beautiful, sparkling blue lagoon. Add some ruins, beautiful hikes and the mythical chimera and you can see why its near the top of our list.

As soon as we arrived in Argentina's Lake District we knew we'd want to come back. Hiking, biking, skiing and even water sports, there's a huge variety of outdoor activities to do in the area. The people are friendly and the chocolate is good, what more is there?

Although night diving wasn't my favorite, we did enjoy the crystal blue waters of
Lake Malawi. Nhkata Bay was our homebase for exploring the lake, but a slow ferry boat ply's the Malawi shore a few times a week, bringing commerce and tourists to remote islands and small villages. The diving was interesting, but it was the slow, laid back place that captured us. We had to pry ourselves away or else we might still be there!

Luxor might be touristy, but its a great chaotic place. Unlike Cairo, Luxor is manageable on foot, making exploring the neighborhoods a fun and cultural experience. There's so much to see in Luxor, but new companies are popping up providing horseback and biking tours of the ruins and temples, proving there's something for everyone. The market is a blast and a good place for beginner negotiators to cut their teeth.
It's hard not o have Manuel Antonio on a list of top 10 places. We loved the fact that monkeys shared the beach with us, although it meant keeping a closer eye on our belongings. With the jungle right up to the ocean, there's plenty of surf, sun, hiking and nature trails to keep anyone busy.
If you want to get close to marine mammals, this should go straight to the top of your list. From getting so close to grey whales you can touch them, to snorkeling with sea lions, whale sharks and colorful fish, this coast line is full of ocean fun, not to mention some beautiful beaches. For a more authentic experience, skip Cabo San Lucas and choose La Paz instead. Trust me, sharing the long malecon with local fishermen and kids without the throngs of tourists is worth it.
If you're a museum fiend, Berlin is the place to be. From funky to traditional, there are literally hundreds of interesting exhibits going on right now. Visit in the summer and make the most of Berlin's parks, the locals certainly do. Rent a bike and bike tour the city, you'll be glad you did.

Vang Vieng isn't just for backpackers anymore. Although it's still a must do, the town has really opened up to toursits of all budgets and interests. Caving, biking, cultural tours, tubing, rock climbing, you name it and it's available in this southeast asian adventure sports town. Great western food for the weary traveler's stomach and voila, its a perfect haven for any one looking to get away. It's easy to avoid the infamous party scene, just choose a place a little out of the center.
