Best Hotel in San Francisco: MARK HOPKINS SAN FRANCISCO!

Hard to believe it has been fifty years since Tony Bennett first introduced his beautiful song, I Left My Heart In San Francisco. But after my experience last week at InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco, I can definitely understand why Bennett chose to sing the song in the first place.
While there is something so unique and romantic about the entire city, the opportunity to enjoy a drink at the Top Of The Mark on Nob Hill and look out over Bennett’s “City By The Bay,” well, it just embraces your heart!
I also enjoyed breakfast at The Top Of The Mark, and the view is breathtaking. I could see the Bay with the sun glistening off of the water, the trademark bridge, Alcatraz, scores of sailboats and, on a clear day, you can even think you see Sausalito (I’m not sure if you can or not, but after taking a ferry over there the day before, I figured it was okay to pretend.)

Since Mark Hopkins built his mansion on Nob Hill in 1878, the name has been synonymous with class. And the bar was raised significantly when InterContinental Hotels Corporation signed a long-term management contract and then purchased the leasehold in 1986.
